Questionnaire – Doctors
1. How do you feel about saving lives?
2. Why do you want to risk your life to save others?
3. How did SARS affect your life?
Answers
1. I feel great and happy saving lives. I like to help people and save the lives of the people because I will feel happy when I see them smile and feeling happy. This satisfaction is difficult to express, unless you experience it yourself. Saving the lives of people, or even helping people, can make me happy the whole day. It really brightens my life to save lives, seeing them smile and thank me. You may think it is ridiculous, but, it’s really amazing. It’s like you just strike a lottery or won something great, and will be smiling sweetly the whole day. Even when thinking of the people thanking me, expressing their gratitude towards me will make me exhilarated and excited.
2. I want to risk my life to save others simply because I like to help people. I feel exceedingly pleased and great when helping people; and this happiness can last me the whole day or even days. I don’t mind sacrificing my life for others, if I know that sacrificing my life can save more lives. I think it’s worth it if my life can exchange the lives of many people. There is a saying that helping others is good because you will be able to get help in return when you need help in the future. I think it is quite true, when you risk your life to save others, they will be touched and remembers it; they will help you in return when you face trouble in future.
3. I was more aware of the things and people around me. I began to cherish them and loved them more. It made me realized that they are important part of my life as they were my moral courage. They will be there for me when I need help and are feeling down. They also shower me with lots of care and concern, despite that period we are not allowed to be so close to each other. It really touches me, and made me realized that family bonds are great and amazing. SARS had made my relationship with my family and friends stronger and I got to know them better. I also know who are good to me and who my true friends are. Normally during this period, people will be avoiding you, scared that you will have SARS, but, true friends and family members were so close and we stayed strong together, to fight the disease together, and to prevent ourselves from getting it.
